About

At Sage and Sunshine Therapy, we support you through transitions.

Meet our owner, Laura Jasen.

I enjoy helping people live more authentically by offering a thoughtful and empathetic sounding board.  I work to build trust and aim to convey hope and optimism. My goal is to help you improve your self image and your relationships with family, partners, coworkers, and friends.

I am intrigued by diverse cultures and different ways of life. I use a blend of therapeutic theories with a collaborative approach to promote emotional health and wellbeing. I consider each client’s unique history to shape my approach.

I work with people experiencing depression, anxiety, panic attacks, grief, loss, and stagnation.  I also work with those seeking help with identity formation, spirituality, life transitions, and academic or career concerns.

I earned a Bachelor of Science in Communication from Florida State University and a Master of Arts in Mental Health and Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of South Florida.  My experience in mental health includes delivering therapy in home for families, in a group home setting, a psychiatric hospital, and in private practice. Before my career in mental health services, I worked for seven years for the Department of Veterans Affairs evaluating benefits our nation’s veterans.

I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with the state of California and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with the state of Florida which allows me to provide services to residents of California and Florida.

Sage and Sunshine Therapy was founded in 2017 with a focus on mental wellness instead of mental illness. A little note about our name. We are often asked ‘why Sage and Sunshine’.  The answer is simple. Sage is considered a blessing herb that is often burned to clear the energy of a space while inviting positive intentions. Sunshine is a vital force in our lives offering energy to recharge our whole being. We strive to promote these principles daily.
